Projected revenue growth of 200% for 2011 brought about a massive surge of Sohm, Inc. (PINK:SHMN) on the market yesterday.

Projected revenue growth of 200% for 2011 brought about a massive surge of Sohm, Inc. (PINK:SHMN) on the market yesterday. Not only did it rally to its late-February level of $0.0346, but it also shifted more than 3.75 million shares, which is both eight times higher than average and the greatest turnover since Feb. 15.

A new promotional wave worth $15 thousand was launched yesterday to speed up the momentum gathered by the positive would-be news. The campaign occurs seven weeks after the last one took place in mid-February. Back then, it pushed SHMN stock up 38% and generated a 15-week high volume of 4.9 million. Yet, by the time the session came to a close, the campaign had exhausted its potential completely, hence the free-fall that followed afterwards.

Now, promoters are required to bring SHMN stock back to life. In addition, the company has come up with a controversial press release which will take time to prove 100% credible. While the company’s current expansion in India sounds fairly promising, it might not necessarily lead to miraculous sales and revenues. [BANNER]

Nevertheless, the company’s boundless enthusiasm might seem justified to a certain extent, especially if its 2010 financials are taken into consideration. SHMN recently revealed to have achieved a staggering 249% revenue increase for 2010 in comparison with 2009.

Sohm, Inc. claims to be specializing in the development of pharmaceutical products designed to be used in the treatment of a wide range of illnesses. Moreover, the company does all the licences required for the manufacturing of as many as 30 products. In addition, it has set its focus on the ever growing emerging markets in Africa, Latin America and Southeastern Asia.

Provided that SHMN really succeeds in making a breakthrough with its diabetes products on the Indian market, its will stand a very good chance of forming a sustainable upward trend in the long run. Until then, promoters will most probably continue to occasionally put SHMN stock on their watch lists.

Lion Energy Corporation ( CVE:LEO ) (PINK:LEGYF) became yet another target for profit scalpers since the company is about to be acquired by Africa Oil Corp.

Lion Energy Corporation (CVE:LEO) (PINK:LEGYF) became yet another target for profit scalpers since the company is about to be acquired by Africa Oil Corp. (CVE:AOI) (PINK:AOIFF).

$40 million offering for the corporation pushed the stock price up more than 12% on Tuesday. The current level of 35 cents per share closely represents the price offered and promises only mild fluctuations until the transaction is complete. Africa Oil currently trades near $2 per share – according to the acquisition terms, LEO should be trading at 1/5 of this price.

Lion will be bought by paying purely in stock. Currently, there’s only a binding letter of intent present, not a real deal yet, but the price has already been set. LEO shareholders will receive 0.2 shares of AOI per one common share they hold. Warrants will be exchanged for equivalent warrants of LEO at the same ratio as common stock.

Lion is already in a joint venture with Africa Oil on operations in Kenya and Somalia. Lion holds 10% to 33.3% percents on four blocks, while AOI holds 40% to 66.6%.

The definite agreement of acquisition is expected to be entered into by March 25, 2011. The companies still have to get approval from the usual sources – regulators, related parties and partners, TSX Venture Exchange and Lion shareholders.

Savanna East Africa, Inc.

Savanna East Africa, Inc. (PINK:NVAE) grabbed the huge gain at once. Yesterday, the stock cut off the loss by soaring over 71% and trading 6 million shares on the market. Will the climb continue is yet unknown, though the reason for the high trade is already crystal clear.

Yesterday, NVAE was promoted four times and the high trade was opened. The promotional campaign has been paid by unknown promoter and the compensation wasn’t revealed, though NVAE was presented as a “Low Floater Alert with Mega Gain Potential”, which attracted traders’ attention.

Besides promotions, Savanna East has been supporting its stock price with positive news. Last week, the company reported its $10 million 2011 revenue objective, and a few days later NVAE joined a partnership to build a wireless broadband network in Kenya. Though, the final results are only projections and optimistic expectations yet.

Savanna East Africa Inc., formerly Nova Energy, Inc., is a development-stage company focused on the recovery of oil and gas reserves through acquisition and project development in Texas and North Dakota regions. In November 2010, the company used to trade approximately four times higher than now, however, since then the stock price has moved down. Apart from this fact, the financials of Savanna look disastrous.[BANNER]

According to its 10-Q report, the company’s liabilities are almost nine times higher than its total assets and the stockholders’ deficit is over $4 million. Besides, as of September 30, 2010 NVAE’s accumulated deficit during the development stage period has exceeded $4.3 million, while the revenues are missing and the net loss is constantly increasing.

Due to these facts, Savanna has entered into a few debt agreements since the end of last year, however, it is not clear how the company will recover the borrowings. The management states the company has sustained losses in all previous reporting periods and it continues to seek funding from its shareholders and other investors to pursue its business plan. However, as NVAE has no earnings and the team will be required to make significant future expenditures, the company’s future operation is dependent on loans, which could hardly make Savanna profitable.

Although BioPack Environmental Solutions, Inc. ( OTC:BPAC ) intend to sell out substantially all of their assets in order to survive and the their stock has lost 80% of its value since the last time it was promoted, yesterday BPAC share price surged up

Although BioPack Environmental Solutions, Inc. (OTC:BPAC) intend to sell out substantially all of their assets in order to survive and the their stock has lost 80% of its value since the last time it was promoted, yesterday BPAC share price surged up. Again, powered by aggressive stock promotions.

Yesterday, BPAC has gained a lot of buying pressure already before the market opened, and entered the session with a gap up. The share price closed then at $0.17, 21.43% higher than the previous day, and this time the promoters achieved an even higher trading volume for the illiquid stock than their forerunners did in the middle of this January. After the peaks reached by the share price at that time, the stock has been climbing down all the year round, but things changed these days.

According to the promotional disclosures, two third parties have financed the second for this year promotional wave, the trading alerts being started already on Monday. At least $65,000 have been spent on the favorable coverage of BPAC, leading to 4.07 million share turnover during the day, a value 58 times the average trading volume of the shares.

At the same time, the latest financial results of BioPack Environmental and especially their latest SEC filing from last Thursday, could hardly suggest that such a run-up on the shares could take place. The company invited its shareholders to a special meeting, on which they will be asked to approve the sale of substantially all the assets the company has. For sale are all the shares of the BioPack subsidiaries, which are responsible for all BPAC manufacturing facilities and equipment in China. According to the filed document, without that sale the company is unlikely to continue as a going concern, and after the sale management plans to concentrate solely on the promoting and selling of the biodegradable food container and packaging products.

A purchaser has also been found: a company incorporated in the Virgin Islands. Together with buying all the manufacturing equipment, the purchaser has also agreed on a distribution contract, which grants BioPack the right to sell their products in Europe, North America, Australia, Africa, South America and Hong Kong for a period of 12 months.

Yesterday I outlined the problem , today I address the solution: Why charities should place Africa ahead of other areas or issues also in need of assistance? After Africa, south Asia/India has the greatest preponderance of child poverty in the world, followed by China. Both India and China have emerging economies that, arguably, have a far greater capacity to provide assistance to their most needy citizens. India and China already have or will have the wherewithal to address their indigenous poverty. Whether they choose to do so is another matter. At least they have the option. However, Africa stands alone and has no other options. There is no large emerging African-based economy or any regional benefactor that can realistically address its extreme poverty or alleviate the human deprivation. Africa has no one else to turn to. Charities have an opportunity to make a real impact and serve as a major catalyst in finally reversing a century of misguided policies and squandered aid. What specific actions can Charities take to help address African poverty? I believe a radically different approach is in order. I agree with Dambisa Moyo, the Zambian economist and former World Bank/Goldman Sachs employee who argues that over reliance on aid has trapped developing nations in a vicious circle of aid dependency. She contends that charitable aid to African nations is not just ineffective – it is worse than no aid. In her opinion, aid keeps Africa and Africans in a sub-servant’s role at a critical time when its governments need to step up and become more self-sufficient. She strongly recommends shutting off all foreign aid to African nations within 10 years. Charity from Western nations cripples African governments by fostering dependency and corruption without requiring positive change. Efforts to increase giving by foreign celebrities like U2 singer Bono are out of touch with the real needs of African countries. I fully endorse Moyo’s approach which proposes stopping the tide of money that, however well intentioned, only promotes corruption in government and dependence in citizens. Aid is often diverted to the coffers of cruel dictators and occasionally conflicts with the interests of citizens – free mosquito nets, for instance, killing the market for the native who sells them.

For my final paper in my persuasive writing class I had to take a global issue and appeal to charities on why they should take action, below is my proposal: Over the past sixty years, more than $1 trillion in development aid has been transferred from rich countries to Africa. Has all this assistance improved the lives of Africans? No. If fact, across the continent, the recipients of this aid are not better off as a result of it, but worse – much worse. One of the greatest myths of our time is that billions of dollars in aid sent from wealthy countries to developing African nations has helped to reduce poverty and increase economic growth. While some progress has been made – primarily in healthcare and agriculture – extreme poverty remains ubiquitous throughout Africa. Poverty levels continue to escalate and growth rates have steadily declined – and millions continue to suffer
