SYDNEY -(MarketWatch)- Ivanhoe Australia Ltd. said Tuesday it has hired UBS to help find a strategic partner for a string of Australian base metals projects, as it vies to secure long-term funding to bring them into production.

Ivanhoe Australia said it has held detailed talks with several parties interested in investing in the Conclurry group of projects near Mount Isa in Queensland state, including the Osborne Copper-Gold development scheduled to start up in March.

“The interest we have received to date has been very encouraging and we expect that the sale of available minority interests in our assets would provide sufficient funding to help establish Ivanhoe Australia as one of the main base metals players in Australasia,” said Peter Reeve, Ivanhoe Australia’s Chief Executive.

Ivanhoe Australia, which has a market value of A$1.09 billion, is majority owned by Toronto-listed Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. IVN -1.05% and chaired by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland.

Yesterday the stock of Lifevantage Corp. ( OTC:LFVN ) got surprisingly a substantial increase in value and unusual trading volume.

Yesterday the stock of Lifevantage Corp. (OTC:LFVN) got surprisingly a substantial increase in value and unusual trading volume. With no news since the announcement of the company’s new CEO in the middle of March, the reason is for now is to be found only in the speculations of traders.

LFVN closed Monday’s session at $0.847 with a 10% increase in the closing price and spiking volume of almost 756,000 shares. Traders were also puzzled by the sudden action and could only point out that the “ramping up of things in Australia is the reason for the recent price increase.” In one of it latest press releases, the company reported also the highest quarterly net revenue of approximately $7.5 million, along with record operating income of approximately $609,000 in the second fiscal quarter 2011.

Though, some time has already passed since that optimistic statement and LFVN stock has accumulated value on it by now. Another possible inspiration for the huge volume this week seem to be the alerts of a stock promoter, sent over the weekend and implying that LFVN stock will be in that promoter’s focus this week. That suggests that maybe the stock could gain even more, maybe aiming at the 52-week high of 90 cents per share.

Lifevantage manufactures and sells a patented dietary supplement that increases the body’s natural antioxidant protection. On paper, at the end of last year the company did not have enough cash to cover its accounts payable and the current portion of its debt, yet the management said that the cash available should be enough to cover the operations for at least a year.

On the other hand, the latest financial report shows also that if the company is unable to generate the expected cash from operations, it may be required to seek additional funds through debt, equity or equity-based financing, which even in available at favorable terms would dilute shareholders and have an adverse effect on the share price.

It is obvious, the shares of PetroFrontier Corp. ( CVE:PFC ), (PINK:PFRRF) have overcome the recent crisis on the TSX Venture Exchange (CVE). Since Tuesday, the stock has begun progressing, in an attempt to move to the winner's side again.

It is obvious, the shares of PetroFrontier Corp. (CVE:PFC), (PINK:PFRRF) have overcome the recent crisis on the TSX Venture Exchange (CVE). Since Tuesday, the stock has begun progressing, in an attempt to move to the winner’s side again.

Over the last two sessions, PFC won some territory on the price chart, moving 10% up. The trading volumes are rising too, which is principally a bullish sign. Yesterday’s turnover was three times the average.

It is not clear how the shares will behave in the coming days. There are no newly issued company developments. We have nothing on paper that could explain the current or the future performance of the stock.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that PetroFrontier is one of the newcomers on the CVE. It commenced trading on the Canadian market in mid-January.

The company itself was formed shortly before New Year, after the amalgamation of Pendulum Capital Corporation and Australia Energy Corp. In relation to this, 26.5M subscription receipts of AEC were issued at a price of $2 each. The net proceeds of this brokered private placement were released from escrow to PetroFrontier.

PetroFrontier is at present an international oil and gas exploration company focused on the development of onshore petroleum and natural gas assets in Australia. The corporation could probably profit from the rising oil prices, triggered by the political unrest in Lybia.

PetroFrontier looks financially stable enough with $57M of working capital, as stated in latest company’s presentation. PetroFrontier claims that the unconventional Bakken oil shale formation in Australia, where the company operates, has over 4 billion barrels of recoverable light oil reserves.

Maybe, PetroFrontier left somewhat negative impression with the lack of any developments regarding its Australian properties over the last two months. Traders are still awaiting the filing of the company’s official financial statements on SEDAR too.

Besides, PetroFrontier has not yet started earning revenues. After all, making a profit is the ultimate purpose of each business.

Planning to do some oil and gas exploration in Australia, the company desperately needed additional capital to further proceed with well drilling on their properties in the Tasmania region.[BANNER]

Considering that the company was all out of cash, the successful capital collection on this stock offering would spark the business once again. With the SEC’s approval that time has nearly come, as the company plans to proceed distributing the rights certificates on Saturday, Feb 13, 2010.

A large portion of the cash anticipated to be received should come from the company’s CEO, Malcolm Bendall, as he owns over 9% of the outstanding shares. This entitles him to acquire nearly $1 million worth of stock at a price of $0.07 and would account for a large part of the hopefully successful rights offering.

Expecting a timely cash collection from investors we should actually see some serious volatility in pricing, as dilution occurs. On the other hand, as the new shares will be sold to existing shareholders, this will likely help sustain the price at reasonable levels.

Besides the cash problem, another issue blocking the company’s progress is the expired special exploration license. They’ve already filed with Mineral Resource Tasmania for a new one, but with no response yet, the company won’t be able to effectively restart operations even with the extra cash on hand.
