Media General Inc. MEG +3.61% said it will continue to shift its business to digital outlets as revenue from its local media websites keep growing.

Media General Inc. MEG +3.61% said it will continue to shift its business to digital outlets as revenue from its local media websites keep growing.

“We have moved aggressively to accelerate our digital media strategy, one that leverages our unique local content across multiple platforms and provides advertisers with new ways of connecting with their target customers,” President and Chief Executive Officer Marshall N. Morton said in a release ahead of the UBS Global Media & Communications Conference in New York.

The company, a multimedia provider of broadcast television, digital media and print products primarily to customers in the southeastern U.S., said it expects revenue from its local media websites in 2011 to rise more than 15% from a year earlier to $33 million. The company expects its local media websites, which have seen double-digit audience and revenue growth for 11 years, to see a full-year profit of more than $2 million.

Morton said the company’s sites are attracting an average of 12.5 million unique visitors per month, up more than 12% from last year, an increase that is driven by breaking news, social media referrals and search engine optimization of its content.

By the end of the year, Morton said Media General will have seven newspapers charging for content on their websites. Morton also said the company sees “positive catalysts on the horizon” including event-driven revenue growth next year from the elections, Super Bowl and Summer Olympics.

However, the company also noted there has been no economic recovery in Tampa since the downturn began in 2006 and the impact has been most significant on its print operations there. Vice President of Market Operations John A. Schauss said newly appointed leaders are identifying opportunities to improve the financial performance of the Tampa Tribune, which will necessarily include work force reductions. Schauss said the company’s goal is to finalize action plans for The Tampa Tribune before the end of this year.

In October, the company reported its third-quarter loss widened on impairment charges and lower revenue.

Shares rose 2% to $3.68 in recent trading. The stock is up 84% in the past three months.

General Metals Corporation (OTCBB: GNMT, Frankfurt: GMQ)

General Metals Corporation (OTCBB: GNMT, Frankfurt: GMQ) is a production oriented junior mining company engaged in the evaluation, acquisition, exploration and advancement of gold exploration and development projects. Our “flagship” project is our advanced stage, Independence Project, stiuated in the prolific Battle Mountain Mining District of north central Nevada. In addition the Company holds other exploration stage properties Nevada. General Metals controls 100% of The Independence Mine, located in the Battle Mountain Gold District of northern Nevada and forms an island in Newmont Gold’s land holding at it’s Phoenix Mine, www.newmont.com.

The Independence Mine – The Independence mine is predominately a silver mine that produced intermittently from 1938 through 1987. Reported historic production by the various operators totaled 750,200 ounces silver and 11,029 ounces gold. The average recovered grade of all recorded production was 0.17 and 11.53 ounces of gold and silver per ton respectively.

Independence Near Surface Oxide Target:
Measured & Indicated 207,500 oz. gold, 3.6 million oz. silver

The Independence near surface target is comprised of the Independence Zone and Hill Zone areas as described in the 2008 Independence Interim Drill Report. Current NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate stands at 207,500 ounces of gold and 3.6 million ounces of silver in Measured and Indicated resource categories, with additional Inferred resources of 65,500 ounces of gold and 268,000 ounces of silver. General Metal’s 2007-2008 exploration drilling campaigns were designed to bring the gold-silver mineralization in the near surface target into a resource category as defined in Canadian National Instrument 43-101. The Company is in the final stages of completing a NI 43-101 formatted Technical Report. This report contains resource estimates based on historic drilling and the Company’s 84 drill holes completed during its 2007- 2008 drill program. The Company has recently completed an additional 44 drill holes to increase drill hole density in the area known as the Hill Zone. This drilling is designed to provide sufficient drill density to permit better modeling of high grade zones in the Hill Zone to both, increase the volume of mineralization reporting to the Measured and Indicated categories and increase the grade of mineralization modeled in those categories. Recent metallurgical test work completed by McClelland Laboratories of Sparks Nevada, indicates the Independence near surface mineralization will be amenable to cost efficient, heap leach technology. A 1.9 ton column test on this ore yielded 91.45 % extraction of gold on material crushed to 80% passing 4 inches. By comparison it is common for many heap leach mines to crush ores to one inch or smaller and to only achieve 70% to 75% extraction of the contained gold. Record gold and silver prices of over $1100 and $17 per ounce respectively encouraged rapid development of the Independence Mine.

Independence Skarn Target: 796,200 ounces of gold

This target is hosted in fractured skarn altered sediments of the Antler Peak, Edna Mountain and Battle Formations, the same rocks that host the historic Fortitude Deposit and much of the mineralization at the present and past producing mines in the Battle Mountain mineral complex. Thin and polished sections of ore show gold occurs as the last mineral phase as minute grains of free gold deposited on micro fractures independent of pre-existing mineral species. More than 25,000 feet of historic core has been re-logged and original pulps from Noranda Exploration and Great Basin Gold were re-analyzed with using modern “best practices” with Certified Reference Materials (CRM’s), duplicates and blanks.

Cautionary Note to U.S. Investors – The United States Securities and Exchange Commission permits U.S. mining companies, in their filings with the SEC, to disclose only those mineral deposits that a company can economically and legally extract or produce. We use certain terms on this website or in press releases, such as “measured,” “indicated,” and “inferred” “resources,” which the SEC guidelines strictly prohibit U.S. registered companies from including in their filings with the SEC. U.S. Investors are urged to consider closely the disclosure in our Form 10-KSB which may be secured from us, or from the SEC’s website at http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml.

This web site contains information about adjacent properties on which we have no right to explore or mine. We advise U.S. investors that the SEC’s mining guidelines strictly prohibit information of this type in documents filed with SEC. U.S. investors are cautioned that mineral deposits on adjacent properties are not indicative of mineral deposits on our properties.

Skye’s cutting edge treatment systems and forward thinking are re-opening America’s oil fields, while setting the industry standard for environmental leadership. As a true pioneer in oil and gas paraffin control, Skye offers exclusive technology and innovation to the world’s energy markets.

Skye owns the proprietary technology and equipment to an oil and gas paraffin treatment process. As pioneers in paraffin treatment, we are the only company known for suspending paraffin in the formation. Our proven technology substantially increases the production of currently-producing wells. The use of this technology helps to prevent off-set drilling of new wells, therefore having a positive environmental impact. In addition to providing paraffin control services to other companies, Skye intends to acquire, operate and treat our own producing wells on behalf of our shareholders.

Operation Statement

Skye owns the proprietary technology and equipment to an oil and gas paraffin treatment process. As pioneers in paraffin treatment, we are the only company known for suspending paraffin in the formation. Our proven technology substantially increases the production of currently producing wells. The use of this technology helps to prevent off-set drilling of new wells, therefore having a positive impact on the environment. In addition to providing paraffin control services to other companies, Skye intends to acquire, operate and treat its own producing wells on behalf of our shareholders.
Skye petroleum, a publicly traded corporation, has developed a unique and pro-active approach in dealing with the decades old problem of paraffin issues in today’s oil wells. This new, proprietary chemical treatment has been both lab tested and field-tested in wells in the states of Texas and Colorado, as well as multiple wells in Canada.
Many of today’s wells are experiencing flow assurance problems that create costly flow blockages in oil production. Paraffin is a heavy organic produced by petroleum fluids. These paraffin deposits exist in crude oil in various quantities and forms. During the oil production process, paraffin will precipitate or crystallize into solids when temperature or pressure drops. The flow of oil will decrease as a result of blockages in the walls of the tubulars and the reservoir surfaces when these heavy solids prevent its designed flow. These heavy organics can cause a restriction throughout many areas.
Skye Petroleum’s cutting edge treatments for paraffin issues are leading the way to greatly increase production in America’s oil wells.
Skye Petroleum has a three part plan approach in generating revenues for the company. Plan 1, will be to share the increased production that our treatment brings to the well (50% of the wells increase paid to Skye). Plan 2, will be to sell licensing agreements to larger production companies that have large oil reserve holdings. Plan 3, will be to own and operate fields for Skye Petroleum, on behalf of our shareholders. We are currently approaching both the small oil companies as well as the major oil companies with our product. We will generate revenues using a different approach to each group. Skye Petroleum has received great interest from both the major oil companies as well as the smaller oil producers, as they are all having significant problems with paraffin and asphaltenes.
Our approach to the smaller oil producers is to negotiate a sharing arrangement on the increased production that our products provide. Skye will improve the well infrastructure and apply our protocol for paraffin. Skye will be paid on a percentage of the increase in barrels of oil produced after treatment. For example, if a well is producing 15 BBL per day, after treatment production increases to 45 BBL per day. Skye will be paid 50% of the increase, or 15 BBL per day, as long as the well is being treated.
Our approach to the major oil companies will be for licensing agreements/consulting fees based on a total of wells serviced and overall oil production. Skye will also negotiate a royalty agreement on the percentage of increase our products create.
Lastly, we intend to purchase oil producing fields for Skye Petroleum, and apply our own technology to these wells.
We believe Skye has the only pro-active treatment process, as opposed to a reactive approach to the paraffin issues that are confronting oil producers worldwide.
Thus far there has been no “magic bullet” to the paraffin issues confronting these oil producers. But Skye Petroleum’s proactive treatment of keeping the paraffin “in suspension” will have a major impact worldwide.
Oil Well Example:Eagle Ford Shale, the Woodbine formation (7,000’) the average amount of solution required to treat well = 1 liter per 3 days in slip stream application circulated down the casing and back up the tubing. Thus keeping the paraffin in “solution” and not forcing the paraffin and oil back down hole as with hot oil treatment or scraping. The suspension process is of great benefit to the formation as it actually brings the paraffin out of the “producing zone” and into the tank batteries/pipeline and out to the refinery. With conventional treatment i.e., hot oiling, scraping and chemical treatment most of the treated paraffin ends up back in the production zone (formation) causing a thickening of the of the crude ( an increase of solid over liquid down hole) therefore making retraction of the crude much more difficult (decreased production).
In conclusion, the vast majority of the oil wells in America were drilled pre 1980 using antiquated technology for completion of oil productive zones. Much of this “antiquated” technology is still being used today for well maintenance and treatment. Skye’s solution systems utilize the latest in chemical and equipment technology allowing greater recovery from older oil zones.

After releasing information about the appointment of new auditors yesterday morning, Dutch Gold Resources, Inc.

After releasing information about the appointment of new auditors yesterday morning, Dutch Gold Resources, Inc. (PINK:DGRI) had a positive session, a rarity for the stock these days.

The price increase of 16.41% on approximately 9.7 million traded shares had DRGI close at $0.0149. This latest attempt to change the general direction was very likely in response to the aforementioned PR.

A statement, which by itself doesn’t provide information pertinent to the company’s operations, can still have a positive effect. The announcement suggests that DGRI could file it’s annual financial report by the end of the month.

Most exploration stage companies trade based on potential. DGRI is no different in that aspect. As seen in its previous financial reports, the company will need additional financing, and if events from last year repeat themselves, shareholders could get hurt. In the nine months from December 31, 2009 to September 30, 2010 the number of the outstanding shares of the company increased by approximately 67%.

There are traders who express optimistic views on the future of DGRI. Additionally, the OTC Markets site shows the company on the OTCQB tier, and that fact gives confidence to some traders. Until the 10-K is out, however, barring some sensational event, there is little chance the price will go to the levels from February.
