Mike The Pike Productions, Inc. ( PINK:MIKP ) has demonstrated some volatility the past few weeks.

Mike The Pike Productions, Inc. (PINK:MIKP) has demonstrated some volatility the past few weeks. The reasons for the action are different, ranging from the published financial report, through some press releases, to a rumor started on iHub.

The most exciting session so far happened on Apr. 12. Almost all the volume was generated by trades between 2 PM and 3:30 PM. Possibly because of this post, which seems to claim there were “massive institutional buys…”. The same poster, mauiguy2, said in a following post that he had heard a rumor on Twitter that “Mark is being wined and dined by Goldman Sachs. The President and CEO of MIKP is Mark Newbauer. The price of the stock went 48.65% up to a close at $0.0055 that day.

In the following sessions MIKP continued its climb until a small drop on Apr. 18 and a more significant 11.11% decrease to yesterday’s close at $0.008 on 672 thousand shares. It seems the hype may be subsiding, but then someone paid for this promotion, which started yesterday after the market closed. The disclosed $5 thousand is a relatively small compensation. It could, however, work for MIKP.[BANNER]

Other than the rumors and promotions, the latest announcement by MIKP came on Apr. 7, and concerned a future project of the company to produce a sci-fi thriller this summer. There aren’t many details about it. Nevertheless, the PR managed to get some attention.

The company is not a registered filer with the SEC. According to their latest unaudited report, as of December 31, 2010 the company had:

$43,878 in cash

$188,806 total current liabilities and $686,834 total long term liabilities

$77,330 in revenues for the year

$12,597 net loss

It is, as always, up to every investor to decide how credible the rumors are and whether they think MIKP will go up or down.

(NASDAQ:COWN) stock, investors express their willingness to further unbar the price decline.

After breaking the rule that “investing in financial institutions is safe, because they are too big to fail” and despite the overall slow climbing up of financial institutions’ indexes these days, investors still have not restored their confidence towards the shares of the financial services industry.

Confirmation of the above was yesterday’s new 52-week low, noted in the records of the trading history of COWN stock.

COWN shares closed the market at $3.77 in a volume exceeding the average. Despite the 0.80% growth in the session, both benchmarks price and volume confirmed the inability to finally change the downward direction of COWN stock.

Comparison of COWN stock performance with Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (GS), Morgan Stanley (MS), CME Group Inc (CME) and The Charles Schwab Corporation (SCHW) shows that since this May, despite overall correlation, the prices of above shares are in constant decline. Among them, COWN stock is the one with the deepest turn-down.

All above raises also the question about the risks related not only to COWN stock.[BANNER]

COWN stock indicates a higher risk than the market. Its Beta value is 1.58. For information and comparison, below are shown the Beta values of its competitors:

Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (GS) – 0.74

Morgan Stanley (MS)- 1.28

CME Group Inc (CME)- 0.92

The Charles Schwab Corporation (SCHW)- 1

The Beta is defined as a measure of the volatility of a stock relative to the overall market. A beta of less than one indicates lower risk than the market. A beta of more than one indicates higher risk than the market.
