Is Caledonia Mining Corporation (TSE:CAL), (OTC:CALVF) Stock Underestimated?

Pretty often, the euphoria and the excitement when contemplating young people or fashionable things surrounding us make us maybe blind for the existence of not so fashionable beings and objects with potential and traditions. Seems like sometimes investors also have this approach towards their investments.

In this golden age, when the price of spot gold and the shares of the companies in this industry note each day the next in row price record, some people put money in junior exploration companies that yet have to prove their potential and reserves.

At the same time, on the market there are “gold” companies with already proven mineral properties and production facilities.

Maybe this is one of the reasons for Caledonia Mining Corporation (TSE:CAL), (OTC:CALVF) stock to have flat performance during the preceding months. As opposed to some strongly promoted “juniors” traded above $1, at present the price of CAL is swirling within the narrow 52-week range between $0.05 and $0.17 per share.

The last mammoth shares’ stir was noted at the end of last year, when the company announced its third quarter financial and operational results.

Last Monday, after a long time without any significant updates, Caledonia Mining Corporation reminded investors that the company’s potential still exists. A short disclosure about the annual general and special meeting of security holders at the end of May and the filed Form 20-F with the SEC immediately brought investors to spot the company’s shares.

During yesterday’s trading session, the shares of Caledonia Mining Corporation met supreme investor appreciation. On the Toronto Stock Exchange, the price of CAL rose 7.69% between the sessions in exceeding five times the average for the company volume.

On the OTCQB market, the price of CALVF advanced 11.11%, pushed by strong investor bullish mood.

These days it will be seen if that was a signal that the shares of Caledonia Mining Corporation are just gaining momentum and still have to be rushed.

Caledonia Mining Corporation was incorporated in 1992. Five years ago, CAL acquired the Zimbabwean company “Blanket Mine”, owning the operating Blanket Gold Mine. The mine is situated in the Gwanda Greenstone Belt. The gold was first produced in the 1800′s. For the first time, the mining and metallurgical plant operations started in 1906 and up to now the mine produces gold. The company holds also other exploration properties throughout this belt.

Since 2009, Caledonia Mining Corporation disposes over a gold dealer’s license from the Ministry of Finance in Zimbabwe and a gold exporter’s license from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.[BANNER]

For the 3rd quarter of last year, CAL reports invested $1.1 million in capital assets and mineral properties. The company has plans to invest in Blanket in order to sustain gold production at 40,000 ounces per annum.

In addition to the Tanzanian properties and projects, Caledonia Mining Corporation is focused also on its cobalt-copper project in Zambia and platinum-nickel exploration projects in South Africa.

As at the end of 2009, the company reported a consolidated accumulated deficit of $180. 8 million.

For the quarter ended September 30, 2010 CAL generated revenue of $6.3 million from the sale of 4,934 ounces of gold, realizing a gross profit of $2.9 million and a net profit of $1.7 million.

New Stock Promotion Could Make Diversity Group International, Inc. (PINK:DGIN) Stock Bounce Up

Diversity Group International, Inc. (PINK:DGIN) stock has good chances to bounce off its trading channel today on the next promotion. On the other hand, the company is running out of cash and its business is far from being profitable, which hardly makes it an attractive investment opportunity.

In the last trading session DGIN jumped 8.33% up and closed the market at $0.195. The trading volume was 80,250 shares and it was a couple of times higher than the average. Today a newly started promotional campaign will try to make the illiquid stock explode out of its narrow trading range.

The new promotion began yesterday afternoon and it is expected to hit the market today. 18 promotional e-mails for DGIN have been sent after market close. Promoters received $30,000 for the advertising service from a third party. The group of promoters that will build market awareness for DGIN today is usually getting a compensation of $29,000 and is generating on average a dollar volume of about $312,000. That could imply a surge for DGIN share price at market open today, but traders should have the usual warning in mind when buying a pink sheets company that is not reporting to the SEC.

The company is engaged in the development and delivery of interest rate, currency and insurance related products and services. Lastly, DGIN announced at the end of February that it is in preliminary discussions with the industry’s largest bank to offer the “the first complete premium financing, risk-management solution potentially endorsed by this bank”.

Diversity Group International financial condition, however, is not that of a promising company that could offer premium financing solutions. At the end of the three-month period ended September 2010 DGIN had $217 in cash and total assets of $15,300, the largest part of which consisting of property and equipment. As opposed to that, the company has liabilities exceeding $1 million, all of which current. DGIN reported also a net loss of $1.55 million for the quarter.

NutraCea (PINK:NTRZ) Makes a Fresh Start After Reaching a Settlement with the SEC

A month ago, NutraCea (PINK:NTRZ) – the protagonist in today’s story – was charged by the SEC with engaging in a fraudulent accounting scheme adopted by former executives back in 2007. The scheme aimed at inflating NTRZ product sales revenues, thus taking advantage of improper revenue recognition practices.

As disturbing as the above mentioned may sound, the influence it exerted on the market performance of NTRZ stock was nothing short of insignificant. On the contrary, with minor exceptions, the company’s stock has not only been on the increase for the last six weeks, but it has also maintained consistent turnover levels. The upward trend was borne out yesterday, when NTRZ stock gained additional 13.7% in value and closed at an all-time high of $0.365, with staggering 1.4 million shares changing hands.

The main reason behind the fairly positive course of events following the initiation of SEC’s investigation might be largely due to the prompt reaction of both the former executives and the new management team of NTRZ. Instead of kicking up a huge fuss about it, the parties reached an amicable agreement. To a certain extent, this outcome has helped the company to start life again with a clean sheet. That is why when NTRZ announced the completion of a JV with AF Bran Holding LLC the news was met with success, without the help of any promoters whatsoever. [BANNER]

So far, investors seem to be full of enthusiasm for NTRZ stock, as if the company is the next big thing in the industry. However, on Nov. 18, 2010, NTRZ managers stated they had yet to prepare the company’s 2009 and 2010 financials as they had been too busy restating the financial statements for the year ended Dec. 31, 2007. So far, so good. Yet, it is hard to explain why today, three months later, no current financial reports have been submitted.

At present, traders seem to have put their trust in NTRZ stock. As it is, they are still on a winning streak. Unless the company provides current information about its financial state, the bubble will most likely burst, plunging any profits accumulated in the meantime.

Artificial Life, Inc. (OTC:ALIF) lost nearly 19% over the last two trading session, putting the stock in possition for a possible correction.

The price collapse occurred after the company launched a new investment entity, Artificial Life Investments Ltd., and recorded the first investments in emerging businesses. Clearly investing in a startup company and a just former venture is a risky choice, thus the ALIF shareholders are opting out from indirect participation in the matter.

Share price went below the strong support level at 90 cent, but still has a couple more points to rely on in the 70-75 cents range. The strong selling pressure, as indicated by heavy trading volume, may bring it further down. Fundamentally, the company’s market capitalization went just below $50 million. This price level looks too low for a $20 million net tangible worth business, that’s been steadily growing sales and net income over the past year and retains no long term debt.

Imaging Diagnostic Systems, Inc. (OTC:IMDS) Gets Again the Optimistic Mood

The impact of the latest trading alerts on Imaging Diagnostic Systems, Inc. (OTC:IMDS) stock should have expired by now, but the share price is rising up again. Yesterday, the company filed a shares registration withdrawal and last week another announcement was made to raise investors’ optimism.

Yesterday, IMDS closed the market at $0.043 with a 11.69% increase in the closing price. Within the session, IMDS jumped up to $0.045 and the total volume traded amounted 7.75 million shares. Although the stock has the impressive over 790 P/S ratio, the industry average being only 1.79, the news from last Wednesday shows that there is still potential for even more optimism on the market.

Since the company announced that it has received deposits for two of its CTLM systems from its distributor for India and Indonesia, the share price is going straight upwards. According to the announcement, the first system has already been installed and the next should be installed next month. Though, on the background of IMDS desperate financial condition and lack of any other sources of revenues, it is doubtful if investors see near-term profitability for the company’s operations, or just expect short-term trading gains on the next announcement.

Today, the reaction to the SEC filing from yesterday will also be interesting. Yesterday, Imaging Diagnostic filed a registration withdrawal for a previously filed registration statement according to which 35.49 million new shares of common stock were supposed to be issued pursuant to the company’s $15 million Private Equity Credit Agreement. The gross proceeds that the company would have received were $1.215 million.
