Watch for this Emerging Market ‘Buy Trigger’…

Watch for this Emerging Market ‘Buy Trigger’… …if iShares Emerging Market ETF (EEM) holds above $44 a share, it will be a great buying opportunity – say technical analysts. (As I write, it’s $45.51 a share) Emerging markets are trading sideways following their strong upward trend from June-November.  A pullback’s not surprising – inflation fears are creating turbulence.  Bull markets never run in a straight line.  The long-term case for emerging markets is still very positive.

Don’t Expect Mid-Term Elections to Change the Long-Term Investment Outlook

The U.S. will remain a debt-swamped economy – no matter what the election outcome. OK, maybe we’ll get a pop in the stock market once Republicans take back the House and saddle Obama with a lame-duck presidency.  But don’t count on this to significantly alter our run-away debt.

President’s Reliance on Oil: Obama All-Time Worst

Interesting chart to see the percentage of oil reliance each President has actually consumed despite what they say during campaign speeches. Funny didn’t Obama say something about “Energy Independence” and “Independence on Oil” whereas Republicans kept pushing “Drill Baby, Drill.” Looks like the sides have shifted.
